4th February: World Cancer Day

Every year World Cancer Day is celebrated on 4 February. The purpose of the UICC (Union for InternationalCancer Control)  is to support the World Cancer Declaration. The primary purpose of celebrating this day is to reduce the number of cancer patients and to reduce the death rate causing due to it.

The Spanish Association for Cancer Research (ASEICA) took advantage of this date and the proximity of the Day of Women in Science, which is celebrated on February 8, has organized the initiative «Conócelas». It is an event that will bring together more than 220 scientists with students from Spain to discover who are the new researchers in the field of molecular oncology. The main objective is to give visibility to women scientists who research cancer in a dynamic and interactive way.
