Dr. Rosana Simón, PhD, Specialist in Nanomedicine is a senior researcher in the Immunology Group at CINBIO and an assistant lecturer at the University of Vigo (UVigo). She holds a broad experience in nanotechnology, development of nanomaterials for drug and protein delivery and characterization of their therapeutic and toxicological potential.
She finished her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2009 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. In 2010, she joined the Immunology Group at CINBIO as a postdoctoral researcher to work in nanotoxicology and development of biosensors. From 2014-2016 she did a two years stay at the Institute Galien – Paris Sud working on the synthesis of polymeric nanoparticles for drug delivery. Afterwards, she returned to the Immunology Group to start her own line of research focused on synthesis of nanoparticles for biomedical applications, evaluation of the toxicity and therapeutic efficacy of nanosystems, funded by the local government (I2C program, Xunta de Galicia). In June 2019, she was recruited by the UVigo to work as a researcher and assistant lecturer in Biochemistry and Immunology in the frame of a Talent program.
She has performed several stays in national and international laboratories, served as a reviewer for journals and project evaluation agencies and supervised undergraduate, master and PhD students. She has also established independent collaborations and, in 2019, she joined a COST Action on Aerogels as a member of the Management Committee for Spain.
